It started with an idea & ended in success

My Storyteller is a Windows 8 application created specifically for the Microsoft Imagine Cup 2013. We were fortunate enough to win the Innovation category and worked hard to get there. We dream of a world where distance doesn't separate families. We want the entire world to be able to read stories to their children, even if they can't be there in person.

My Storyteller is designed to bridge the gap between caregivers and children in the busy modern world. The app allows caregivers to record themselves telling a custom story to their child while overseas, which is then sent home through the internet and can be played back at any time.

The Journey

The Microsoft Imagine Cup 2013 New Zealand National Finals took place at the University of Auckland Business School on Sunday 24th March 2013. This video shows off our National Finalist teams, in the hours before, during, and after the judging! The next stage of the competition is to compete in St.

National Innovation Award Winners

With the final presentations done and dusted, it was announced that we had won our category. This came with prize money, trophies, bragging rights and the the possibility of going to Russia for the World Finals. We missed out on the world final but were still extremely happy to have won after all our hard work! Unfortunately I broke my ankle a couple of days before the Finals and had to stay in hospital awaiting surgery. After the news of our success the guys came to visit and presented me with my award.
